BorgiaPope writes “NYU’s Clay Shirky, in the new issue of Foreign Affairs, calls the U.S. government’s approach to social media ‘dangerous’ and ‘almost certainly wrong,’ as in its favoring Haystack over Freegate. The Political Power of Social Media claims that the freedom of online assembly — via texting, photo sharing, Facebook, Twitter, humble email — is more important even than access to information via an uncensored Internet. Countering Malcolm Gladwell in the New Yorker, Shirky looks at recent uprisings in the Philippines, Moldova, and Spain to make his point that, instead of emphasizing anti-censorship tools, the US should be fighting Egypt’s recent mandatory licensing of group-oriented text-messaging services.” Only part of Shirky’s piece is available for non-subscribers, but Gladwell’s New Yorker piece is all online.

  7. I'm sorry but without any evidence or witnesses besides your daughter it will be extremely difficult to get a conviction in a rape case two years old. This is a country where everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and without anything else there is not nearly enough to show that the man did rape your child.

  8. layer says:

Ok… I'm going to deal with your question.

YOu cannot MAKE an instructor develop a lesson plan for your child. Its just not feasible nor do I think truly an instructor would take the time.

All a lesson plan is is a "course of study". You have an objective and you have steps on how you are going to teach it.

    Its not rocket science.

There are TONS of websites you can get free lesson plans on TONS of different subjects.

If you take a sample of the coin and mix it with aqua reqia (a 5:1 solution of HCl and conc. HNO3) the metals will dissolve. Gold is oxidised by the nitric acid to Au3+, which is complexed by the chloride to Au(Cl4)- (can't do subscripts). This drives an equilibrium forward, causing more gold to dissolve.

Gravimetric method: By boiling with hydrogen peroxide, the gold will precipitate out, but I'm not sure what other metals will. Copper definitely will not. By filtering the solution and igniting to dryness, the amount of gold can be determined gravimetrically.

Atomic absorption: A more selective test, dilute the gold solution and use in an AA apparatus. Compare to a calibration curve and compensate for dilution factors.

    Hope this helps.

Everybody lies constantly, and it's upsetting that you would consider making a fuss over it. You're old enough to read and write. That means you're old enough to tolerate minor evils. If you think he's never going to lie to you, you're really a fool. When you consider small lies like this, you're lucky if in an entire month you can pick out 2 full minutes of speaking time in which he did not lie 15 times. Something like this is not so much a lie as it is a convenient fantasy…. A white lie at worst. If anything, he's just trying to impress you.

His latest track is an “ode to Arab revolution”, calling for a repetition of the Tunisian rising in countries throughout the region: “Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Morocco, all must be liberated/Long live free Tunisia”.

I really can't help you write a lesson plan unless I knew what you were teaching. Generally, lesson plans contain Objectives: such as, Student will be able to identify adjectives in given sentence,. Then there is usually Motivation: such as, a sentence on the board that says 'The dog gave me a bone. Then ask the class "How can we make this sentence better,. Usually someone will suggest say the big, brown, dog gave me a bone Then you can get the students to define adjective as a word that describes a noun. Then Classwork: 1 Students write 5 original sentences and underline the adjectives 2. Students read their sentences aloud and other students identify adjectives in their sentence.. Summary: Review with the students the definition of adjective. Homework Write a brief letter to your teacher telling what adjectives are and why they are important.

  41. mosco says:

We have an idea of how the universe began, essentially, as a point, and we have an idea of how old the universe is. Then, from our observation of the way light red-shifts – as described by another respondent – we have an idea of the size of our universe, and we can see how fast the universe in now expanding. Then,we are able to do some calculations that allow us to put these pieces together so that we can build a picture of a sort of 3 dimensional trajectory – like you might plot the trajectory of a ball thrown into the air. Even when it was only part-way through its flight, you could calculate the whole of its flight path.

Assuming that we are correct so far, we come to a sort of snag in being able to predict the future 'trajectory'. We think we have an idea of how much mass is in the universe, and we think we have an idea of how much mass it would take, spread out over the universe, to create enough gravitational pull to eventually pull it all back together again. And the amount of mass we 'see' is far too little to do that.

But we are convinced that there is more mass than we can observe, even much more. We can observe the effects of this mass in the way certain galaxies wobble – as if there is a lot of mass where it does not look like there is any mass. We call this mass 'dark matter'. Since we do not know how much dark matter is in the universe – or even what it is – we are in no position to say if the amount of mass is sufficient to pull the universe back together eventually.

However, even this whole way of thinking may be flawed since we have quite recently observed that contrary to our expectations, the universe's expansion seems to be accelerating – exactly the opposite of what we would expect. And so you could say that 'all bets are off".
