I'd use a single 9 volt battery for the metal detector.

For the buggy, you need a lot of power. I'd start with a 6 volt lantern battery, they are quite powerful. If that is not fast enough, use 5 D cells in series. At 1.5 volts each, that is 7.5 volts. You can also setup a switch to change the speed, with a rotary switch selecting between 7.5 or 6 or 4.5 or 3 volts.

If they die too quickly (I have no idea of the size of the motors) use 2 or 3 in series for each, so you have a total of 10 or 15. At this point, the weight of the batteries becomes significant.

I don't know what you mean by "parallel circuit" ? Do you mean cells in parallel?

  15. The first issue is what type of signal is being generated by the metal detector.

If it's an audible signal at some level and impedance then what you could easily do is build a simple amplifier stage that has a high input impedance so you can match the output impedance of the audio output from the metal detector and amplify the signal then feed it into a low level fm transmitter(there legal to use for any purpose) and transmit it on 88-108 megahertz commercial fm band.

You then only need a sensitive commercial battery operated fm radio from any electronics store to tune in and receive the metal detector audio where your stationed operating the buggy.

The amplifier stage can be as simple as a commercial mic preamp. As for the transmitter there are kits all over the Internet you can buy, get one that uses crystal locking so it's stable.

Just got to hope the IED isn't triggered by a radio frequency signal otherwise you will need more buggies……..wish all the best with the concept.

fantasies are never wrong. you can fantasize about anything you can conjure up. No matter how disturbing. This one is pretty tame, and even normal for younger guys. You should not act on this however, you do not want to be responsible for the break up of a marriage. There are serious repercussions. I wish you luck. Maybe you could focus on a single mom instead. =)

  44. Nippon News Network has brought us details of a series of new robots that promise to lighten the load of the average Japanese housewife. First up is Toshiba’s ApriPoco, an 8.4-inch tall bot that is essentially a universal remote control in cutesy robot form. ApriPoco uses infra-red technology and ‘listens’ to verbal commands to control your electrical domestic appliances. Then there is a remote-control motorized robotic table, which sounds kind of risky to me – I prefer my tables…
